Nicky Law hopeful of adding to misfiring Alfreton Town squad

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law is hopeful of bolstering his misfiring squad ahead of the 2015/16 season registration deadline of 5pm on Thursday, March 24.

The vastly experienced Law is expecting to bring in at least one new face to freshen his options up ahead of an impending Easter double header.

The Reds entertain Gloucester City at the Impact Arena on Saturday before making one of the shortest trips of the season to face Gainsborough Trinity on Easter Monday at The Northolme.

However, with defenders Brad McGowan and Cliff Moyo both still unavailable through injury, right-back Joe Doyle struggling with a hamstring problem, and leading scorer Sam Jones beginning a three-match suspension this Saturday, manager Law could certainly do with boosting his squad, especially with seven Vanarama National League North games left.

The Reds boss did begin that process last week when he brought in Sheffield United defender Julian Banton last Friday on loan until the end of the season and the Blades man produced a solid all-round debut despite a 1-0 home defeat by FC United of Manchester last weekend.

Banton began the game in central defence but looked equally at home at right back after being moved there when Joe Doyle limped out of the game with a hamstring strain.

Transport

ATFC Supporters’ Association official transport to the Gainsborough Trinity away game on Easter Monday will depart at 10.15am.
