New scoreboard deja vu for Stags fans at Exeter

Just a week after Mansfield Town launched their own new scoreboard, Stags fans heading to Exeter City on Saturday will be in for an extra treat with the sight of a 16 square meter mobile LED screen digital scoreboard being used on a no obligation trial by the Grecians.

After months of anticipation, Mansfield Town’s new giant ex-Wembley scoreboard was finally switched on last weekend – but Stags were unable to give it much to do in a 0-0 draw with Colchester.

“It would have been great to see it working other than just a clock on it, but if you don’t score a goal then not only don’t you win a game but you don’t get the scoreboard to move, other than counting the seconds,” said manager Steve Evans.

“My objective is quite simple for where the scoreboard is. “Let’s get promotion and put a bit of pressure on the chairman to build something over there.

“He has assured me that will be the case and I have only ever found him a man of his word.

“He has done everything and more that he’d said he’d do since I walked into the building.

“So it’s my job to make sure we give him them little headaches.

“I think it’s the biggest scoreboard outside Wembley, but we’d like to see a few goals on it and a few celebrations on it, particularly coming up to the festive period.”
