Moyo, who has a number of England under-18 caps and has previously played for Barrow, said: “There were one or two other ones (clubs).

“Nantwich obviously wanted me to stay and Telford wanted me as well, but I had made my decision with Alfreton.”

Born in Bulawayo, Moyo moved to England when he was nine years old.

After attending Roe Farm primary school and Davinci High School in Derby he then moved to Stoke.

He went to college and then Staffordshire University where he recently graduated with a degree in sports studies.

Moyo says that the opportunity to carve out a living in football is not one he necessarily expected, but is determined to make the most of.

He added: “At the trial game I realised the club didn’t have a right-back which is the position I play.

“I was competing with two other lads and luckily for me I did well.

“The club offered me a contract to stay and having just completed university, I am now wanting to settle down and get games under my belt.

“I focused on university for three years with a career at the end with a degree.

“Now I am taking a year off and see what happens with football.

“I just want to do my best for Alfreton.”
