The point sees the Stags sit 22nd in League Two still searching for their first win of the campaign.

But draw number six was almost unlucky game number 13 as a late Saddlers effort rattled the woodwork.

George Maris saw an early strike fizz wide for caretaker boss Richard Cooper's side before Stags keeper Marek Stech was called into action, denying Emmanuel Osadebe with a superb stop.

Liam Roberts held on to efforts from Maynard and Harry Charsley before the hosts took a 33rd minute lead, Maynard sliding home George Lapslie's muscued effort.

Stech comfortably collected Wes McDonald's free kick as Town held a 1-0 interval lead.

But four minutes into the second half Walsall were level, Elijah Adebayo slotting home following George Nurse's pull back.

The hosts' response saw Maynard curl an effort wide before Roberts beat Jamie Reid to Stephen McLaughlin's cross and did well to deny Charsley.

Stech was called upon to keep his side in the game with a late savge to deny Liam Kinsella before, in stoppage time, Osadebe's volley crashed against the bar.
