Villa fixture for Stags

Mansfield Town have landed a big-name opponent for their pre-season, with Premier League team Aston Villa visiting the One Call Stadium this summer for a friendly.

The former European Cup winners, will visit Mansfield on Thursday 17 July (7.45pm).

Operations Director, Tina Broughton, said: “We are delighted to announce this pre-season friendly against one of the most prestigious clubs in English football.

“Aston Villa are former European Cup winners and have been ever-present members of the Premier League since it’s formation in 1992, so for us to be hosting them is a real honour.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to the fixture ahead of what we hope will be a successful campaign for us in Sky Bet League Two.”
