VIDEO: Stags lose JPT derby 1-0 to local rivals Chesterfield

Mansfield Town’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy adventure came to an abrupt halt at One Call Stadium last night when neighbours Chesterfield stole a 1-0 win in the second round tie.

But the Stags deserved something out of a contest in which they missed some good chances, including twice being through one-on-one with Spireites keeper Tommy Lee.

In the end, a full-blooded derby game was decided by a 72nd minute moment when home keeper Alan Marriott left his line to deal with a cross and collided with his own defender, Ritchie Sutton.

Gary McSheffrey slipped the loose ball into the empty net and Sutton was worryingly down for a full 12 minutes before being stretchered off concussed.

Here is a slideshow of images from the night.

Stags are back at home for the third time in eight days on Saturday when Bristol Rovers are the visitors.
