Mansfield Town’s players and staff lifted the spirits of poorly children and their families in the club’s annual Christmas visit to King’s Mill Hospital.

Stags’ boss Adam Murray led his squad as they took time out of their pre-Leyton Orient preparations to meet young fans and their families at the local hospital in Sutton.
The players handed out a selection of gifts, which included selection boxes and signed memorabilia.

Commenting on the visit, Adam Murray said: “It’s a time of year which I think is extremely important and valuable to the children and the club.

“When I took the job (as manager, a year ago), I made a point of wanting to get our players into the community more.
“If you look at our community scheme just now, it is thriving tremendously, which is of big credit to Mark Hemingray (community director) and his staff.
“We do as much as we can to ensure that our players are active in the community, such as visiting schools and hospitals.
“Some of the kids we have seen will spend Christmas in hospital. It’s important that we show that we care about the people of Mansfield.”
