Boss Adam Murray has named new signing James Caton on the bench for today’s season-opener with Carlisle United.

The winger (21) joined Mansfield on loan from Shrewsbury this morning and will fill the void left by injured Matty Blair.

He became Mansfield’s 14th summer signing as Adam Murray looks to stamp his own authority on his team.

Star signing Matt Green was named in the starting eleven following his summer return from Birmingham City.

Stags fans will be hoping Green can hit the ground running and turn around the side’s struggling front line, who scored just 38 league goals last season.

It was the worst tally in the league and a major factor in Mansfield’s lowly 21st place finish last campaign.

There are also starts for new men Nathan Thomas, Nicky Hunt and Malvind Benning.

Keith Curle’s visitors will give starts to seven of their new summer signings, with former Mansfield players Michael Raynes and Derek Asamoah named in the starting side.
