Tafazolli delighted with derby day glory

Ryan Tafazolli was a happy man after his powerful display in another superb clean sheet for Stags helped them to this afternoon’s magnificent 1-0 win at unbeaten arch-rivals Chesterfield.

In only the defender’s second League outing he was immense and celebrated a second successive clean sheet on a backs-to-the-wall afternoon for Mansfield.

He said: “It was wave after wave of Chesterfield attacks. They are a good side with good players. So we are just delighted with our defending and the result.

“They had players with a lot of experience and we had a few young lads in our side. But all credit to the gaffer, he got his game plan right and his tactics right and we came out on top.

“We didn’t stop talking and communicating and battling.

“The six minutes at the end felt more like 20 minutes. But I didn’t really feel they were going to score. All their shots were in front of us.

“A few of our lads were suffering with cramp at the end. It was an unbelievable feeling when that final whistle went.

“It was the biggest crowd I have ever played in front of and they didn’t stop singing. I was so happy to be given another chance to play today and play well.

“We must now keep level headed and not get carried away. We must work hard and take that into next week’s game.”
