MANSFIELD Town are hoping the rain stays away so they can play their FA Trophy first round replay at Matlock Town tomorrow night.
Stags also discovered this morning that whoever wins the replay will now face Dorchester Town or Luton Town at home on Saturday, 15th December.
Photographs of Matlock’s pitch yesterday showed pools of standing water with more rain forecast as Stags prepare to try to finish off their NLP neighbour at the second attempt after a tired display in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the One Call Stadium.
“We have got our flippers and snorkels ready and the lads have their wetsuits out,” said manager Paul Cox.
“We will go there and adapt to whatever the conditions are. We are hoping the game is on as we want to get Saturday’s performance out of the way when the lads let themselves down a bit.
“At lest we are still in the competition, which is more than some sides at our level who were victims of giantkillings at the weekend.
“We have just had three games in a week and there were a few heavy legs out there on the pitch on Saturday in heavy conditions. That’s not an excuse, just me being a bit more analytical of the game.
“Maybe I should have changed things around a bit more and picked a few different individuals. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.”
John Dempster is available again after suspension and Adam Murray is expected to be fit, despite a bang on the foot on Saturday that left him hobbling after the game.
