Mansfield Town have completed the signing of Bulgarian under-21 international goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov on a six-month loan from Nottingham Forest.

Evtimov is no stranger to manager Paul Cox, having appeared for the Stags in pre-season – keeping goal in the club’s 3-1 home victory over Notts County.

A product of the Forest Academy, the 20-year-old broke into first team circles at the City Ground in 2012.

He was named LFE Apprentice of the Year at the 2012-13 Football League Awards in recognition of his work both on and off the field.

Evtimov, who has gained senior experience from loan spells at Ilkeston, Gainsborough Trinity and Nuneaton, has been capped by Bulgaria at Under-19 level, as well as appearing for their under-21s.

He is eligible to stay with the Stags until Saturday 3rd January and has been allocated the number 23 shirt.

As a result of Evtimov’s arrival, fellow keeper Cameron Belford, who was with the Stags on non-contract terms, has left the club.
