Mansfield Town host Crewe Alexandra and it's fair to say they'll be hoping to fare better than they did when the sides met four times in the 2002/2003 season.

That campaign, Crewe romped to a 5-0 win at Field Mill early in the season, while they returned to win 4-0 in the Football League Trophy.

Add to that a 3-0 defeat at Gresty Road in the FA Cup and a 2-0 loss there in the league, and it proved a pretty horrid team for Stags to face.

The 5-0 defeat left Stags fans hard pressed to think of a worse performance in many years.

The scores were goalless until Richard Walker put the visitors in front on the half-hour mark, the first of three goals in eight disastrous minutes as Rodney Jack and then Rob Hulse added further strikes before half-time.
