Mansfield Town’s squad members proved they are fully fit and able if called upon this weekend with a 7-2 midweek reserve friendly win at Evo-Stick Northern Premier league Quorn FC.
Stags, skippered by John Thompson, were 3-1 up at the break and won it with goals by Matt Rhead (2), Ben Hutchinson, Thompson, Lee Stevenson (2) and youngster Adam Somes.
“It was an excellent run-out for the lads,” said boss Paul Cox. “Forget the scoreline, Quorn probably worked us harder than Notts County did which is just what I wanted.
“There were some excellent performances individually and collectively and I was pleased with our fitness and our sharpness.”
“At this stage of the season it is going to get tough on legs and it’s nice to know I have good quality players mentally and physically fit to come in.”
