Stags land left back Bell on loan

Promising Birmingham City left back Amari’i Bell (20) today signed for Mansfield Town on a six-month loan deal.

Burton-born Bell, who spent time on loan at Nuneaton Town and Kidderminster Harriers last season, trained with his new team mates for the first time this morning as Stags began to address the lack of left-sided players in the current squad.

The youngster is eligible to stay with Mansfield until Saturday, 3rd January and will feature in the pre-season campaign, which includes a match with his parent employers.

“I’m happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” said Bell. “I like to have the ball and pass it, but if the gaffer plays a different way then I can easily adapt to that.”

Bell is well-known to first team coach, Micky Moore, who coached him at Solihull Moors in the infancy of his career and then signed him on loan at Nuneaton Town.

He said: “I’ve worked with Micky at Solihull Moors, Nuneaton Town, and now here and I’m happy to be working with him again. This is a good League club and as a young player it’s what I need.”

He added: “The main thing (about the move) is experience and I need some Football League games under my belt.”

So far he has only made one first team appearance for the Blues, on 28th January 2014, starting at left back against Championship leaders Leicester City in a 2-1 defeat.
