Stags face defensive reshuffle for derby replay

MANSFIELD Town may have to replace three of their back four for tomorrow’s big FA Trophy replay at Conference North neighbours Alfreton Town.

The sides must do battle a second time after Saturday’s tense 1-1 draw at Field Mill, but Stags will be without Kevin Sandwith, following his red card on Saturday, and could also lose Steve Foster, who battled on with illness on Saturday, and Paul Stonehouse, who picked up thigh and calf injuries.

Tom Naylor, who spent some time on loan at the Impact Arena, would come in for Sandwith at centre half while the loss of Stonehouse could be an opportunity to give new signing Danny Spence a debut. If Foster is no better Rhys Day may get a recall.

Alfreton veteran defender Darren Stride was also sent-off on Saturday but they have appealed against the decision so he plays tomorrow.

The winners will earn themselves a trip to Evo-Stik Premier side Chasetown but Stags boss Duncan Russell said: “People have told me about the draw but I am not talking about Chasetown, only about tomorrow, as the draw means nothing if we don’t get a result at Alfreton.

“But if my players find a quarter-final at Chasetown an incentive then so be it.”

The game kicks-off tomorrow at 7.45pm and it is pay on the gate, first come, first served.
