Riley made his first appearance on his second spell with the club in last weekend’s 0-0 home draw with Exeter and said: “It is weird coming back here after being away for a year.

“I missed out on promotion, which I would have loved to have been involved in. But I did have a great season with Wrexham and managed to play at Wembley twice.

“I am pleased to be back. When I heard Mansfield were interested in me there was not really anywhere else I wanted to go.

“They are a great set of lads and the staff and fans are great.”

He added: “My pre-season was up and down as I picked up a couple of injuries. But It was nice to get into the side and keep a clean sheet last weekend, and I thought we looked pretty solid.

“I have played with John Dempster and Ritchie Sutton before which helped. And I did feel quite fit, though I was blowing a bit for the last 10 minutes.

“We know Wycombe will be a tough game – there are no easy games in League Two. But we are not afraid of anyone and fancy ourselves to beat anyone.”
