Stags could equal spot kick record at Stanley

Mansfield Town could equal a record at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Adam Murray’s men are on the verge of going an entire season without being awarded a penalty.

The Stags haven’t been awarded a spot-kick since Sam Clucas saw an effort saved by Barry Roche in a match against Morecambe at One Call Stadium – way back in November 2013.

At present, Mansfield are the only team in the entire Football League and Premier League not to be awarded a spot-kick this season and their run of games without being awarded a spot-kick now stretches to 80 matches in all competitions.

The last team competing at this level to go an entire campaign without being awarded a penalty was Accrington Stanley in 2011/12.
