Mansfield Town’s week-long training camp in Portugal has been hailed a fantastic success.
The club spent the week doing gruelling fitness sessions before enjoying a high intensity friendly with Portuguese side Vitoria De Setubal on Saturday, which they lost 1-0.
“It’s been really beneficial - it’s been a fantastic week,” smiled Stags assistant manager Ben Futcher.
“It’s been an opportunity to get everyone together 24/7.
“The training has been really tough and it’s helped with the togetherness. The players dragged each other through.
“It’s been a tough time out there but we’ve had that bit of enjoyment as well and it’s been great for everyone.”
He continued: “For the whole club, the benefits have been fantastic.
“The harder you work, it brings everyone together. They’re encouraging, sticking together and driving each other through it.
hat’s been evident since day one. They’ve had a lot of time to socialise together - they’ve been having FIFA tournaments in their down time!
“They’ve been great and really come together. It’s been everything we hoped the trip would be. We’re all delighted with the way it’s gone.”
