Oldham Athletic boss David Dunn was just relieved to see his injury-hit League One strugglers escape from Mansfield Town with a replay after yesterday’s 0-0 first round draw at One Call Stadium.

He said: “We weren’t good enough with the ball. We have to be better when we are in possession. But we are in the hat for the next round, so that is not too bad.

“The lads worked really hard and kept going until the end.

“Without making excuses we are probably short of four, five or six players who would be starting.

Brian Wilson was arguably the best player on the pitch and Tim Dieng coming in at centre back after not playing a lot of football was fantastic as well.”

He added: “We worked hard in difficult conditions in a strong wind, but it wasn’t the most entertaining game.

“Ricardo Fuller is disappointed he didn’t hit the target, but we will go again, back in the league. Three home games in 10 days will give us a chance to improve our home form.”
