New Stags director Andy Sutton outlines future plans

Mansfield Town’s new communications director says he will liaise with local authorities to help build a brighter future for the Stags.

Local businessman and lifelong Stags fan Andy Sutton was unveiled as the latest board member at a fans’ forum on Monday night at One Call Stadium.

His primary aim, Andy says, is to work with local government to seek out sites where new facilities can be built for the club’s expanding youth academy,

“I think I can take the club forward on the development side of things, which will mean liaising with the council and local authorities to secure pitches for our youth academy,” said Andy,

“This will build a bigger future for Mansfield as we aim to better our facilities.

“At the moment, we have a site at Woburn Lane (in Pleasley). There is some land at the side of there which we will look to put three or four pitches on, should this be agreed by the council. This will help us to help grow our youth system and further the education of our young players.”

On the club’s communications, he added: “The club’s communications are currently very good.
“The chairman has invested a lot of his time and money to get us where we are. The club is in the best place it has ever been and is going from strength to strength.”
