The Stags could still lose transfer-listed striker Danny Rose, have a shortage of fit centre halves for their new three at the back system and are mindful that potential international call-ups for Krystian Pearce, Omari Sterling-James or Ryan Sweeney could also leave them threadbare.

Despite the current four-week spell of two games a week, boss David Flitcroft is working hard to make sure they are not left short.

“We are still looking to recruit,” he said.

“We have a couple of players that could potentially get international call-ups, so that’s something we are mindful of. They could miss two or three games if that happens.

“We are looking at it as we want to make sure before the window closes that we are locked in and don’t have that situation where you are grasping and clutching at straws. It has to be design.

“We are looking at every eventuality and we will continue to do that.”
