Meikle signs for York City

The 26-year-old Nottingham-born winger goes back many years with Stags boss Paul Cox and had been offered a new deal to stay at One Call Stadium.

But Cox, forced to operate under a reduced budget this coming season, admitted last week that talks with Meikle and midfielder Anthony Howell had stalled and he may have to look elsewhere.

Now Meikle has signed for Stags’ League Two rivals.

There is no further news on the Howell situation as yet today, but Cox is expected to speak to the press at lunchtime.

Striker Ross Dyer, released by the Stags this summer, has signed for FC Halifax Town in the Conference.
