Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray has bolstered his squad this evening by the signing of experienced right back Nicky Hunt.
The 31-year-old becomes the latest player to join the Stags’ ranks ahead of pre-season training, which commences next Monday. Hunt started his career at Bolton Wanderers and went on to make over 150 appearances for the club. Spells then followed at Birmingham City, Derby County, Bristol City, Preston North End and Rotherham United. More recently, he spent the last two seasons at Accrington Stanley, playing over 60 League games for the Lancashire outfit. Manager Adam Murray said: “Nicky adds vital experience and know-how to our back line. He is an excellent defender and also has top quality distribution. “He has played at a much higher level (than League Two) and as well as his football intelligence, he brings some real quality into the squad.” Speaking to mansfieldtown.net this evening, Hunt said: “I’m very pleased to have signed for the club and am really looking forward to working with the manager and the rest of the players. “I know he (the manager) won’t accept mediocrity and I want to help put Mansfield back on the map,” he added. The deal will be complete subject to Football League clearance.
