Mansfield Town send shirts to African children

Only five months ago, schools re-opened across the West African country, nine months after they were closed because of the Ebola outbreak. 
The club teamed up with the regiment, after a brainwave by the club’s operations director Tina Broughton and Stags’ supporter, Corporal Bryn Etches. 
Around 60 items of clothing have been donated, including shirts, training tops, socks and shorts. 
Mansfield Town’s operations director Tina Broughton said: “We were keen to make good use of stock which has been left over from our previous League season and our thoughts turned to people, children especially, who wouldn’t be able to afford material of this quality. 
“We hope it can make a difference for some of the children of Sierra Leone, after an unimaginably difficult past year.” 
The worst outbreak of Ebola on record has killed more than 11,000 people in Sierra Leone, Guinea and neighboring Liberia since it began in December 2013.
