Mansfield Town beat Yeovil after Reggie Lambe scores dramatic injury time winner

Reggie Lambe scored a dramatic winner in the tenth minute of injury-time at Yeovil Town to ensure Mansfield Town remained fourth in League Two.

On a night of very few chances, the game was decided with one of the final moments of the match at Huish Park when Lambe applied the finish to Mitchell Rose’s cross.

With defenders Nicky Hunt, Krystian Pearce and Mal Benning all out, it was no surprise to see new loan signing Blair Adams start in defence.

The first real chance of note went Yeovil’s way after 15 minutes when Ryan Bird shot over the bar from the edge of the penalty area.

Yeovil threatened again soon after when Connor Roberts crossed for Shaun Jeffers but he was unable to apply the finish and headed wide.

Mansfield’s best chance in the opening hour came when Jamie McGuire missed the target from 25-yards.

The first effort of the second half went Mansfield’s way when Lambe forced a save from Glovers’ goalkeeper Artur Krysiak from Chapman’s corner.

And the visitors had the first shot on target after 65 minutes. Adi Yussuf forced Krysiak into a good stop.

Lambe came close to opening the scoring on 72 minutes when he went past Krysiak but his shot was cleared off the line by Roberts. A head injury to Krysiak caused a long delay in the game.

Yussuf posed a threat once more in the final ten minutes and at the other end Roberts’ cross reached Yeovil captain Ryan Dickson and his shot went into the side-netting.

The second half had seen much more goalmouth action but it appeared the teams would have to settle for a share of the spoils.

However, Rose crossed into the box in the tenth minute of injury time and Lambe headed well past Krysiak to snatch all three points at the death.
