Mansfield Town ace Matty Blair back after being given the all-clear

Wing ace Matty Blair finally returned to full contact training with Mansfield Town today after over seven months out with a serious knee injury with boss Adam Murray delighted to see his ‘X Factor’ player given the all-clear.

“He is going to get lumps kicked out of him this morning - by me,” smiled Murray.

“It was great news Friday. He got the all-clear from the specialist that he can fully throw himself into action. So he is on the launching pad this morning.

“He’s been training with us for the past couple of weeks. I said last week he is looking as fit as anything and the only one keeping up with him is Greeny, and we’ve got a fit group so that speaks volumes for Matty.

“He is obviously going to be a bit nervous as it’s been a long time and the quicker we can get him back in – what an addition to be able to able to bring in at this stage of the season.”

Murray added: “I said to the wife last night, it’s like signing a new X-Factor player, someone who can make a difference.

“Coops (coach Richard Cooper) did some work with him Saturday morning on the training pitch before the game and Coops came in and said he was a little bit scared as Matty had got quicker. If so then we are in for one hell of a player.”

Blair is due to play in a behind-closed-doors game next week.
