Liam Mitchell joins Mansfield Town on non contract basis

Ex-Notts County goalkeeper Liam Mitchell has today returned to One Call Stadium after signing for Mansfield Town on a non-contract basis.

The 20-year-old, who made three starts for Paul Cox’s side last season on loan from Meadow Lane, will join the rest of the squad this afternoon as they travel overnight for the trip to Wycombe Wanderers.

Mitchell joins the club following the news that reserve goalkeeper Ian Deakin could be out for up to six weeks, after dislocating a shoulder during the warm-up before last Saturday’s home match to Exeter City

Said manager Paul Cox: “After Ian‘s unfortunate injury, we have had to make sure that we are adequately covered.

“Liam did well for us last season and has a good pedigree. He will give us both cover and competition for the goalkeeper’s jersey.”

Mitchell will wear shirt number 33.
