‘Kids for a Quid’ as Mansfield Town chairman John Radford calls on the town to back promotion push

Stags enter 2016 in 11th position in League Two, just two points off the play-offs and Radford has announced U18s will be admitted for just £1 for the next three homes games as long as tickets are pre-purchased.

“This season, as far as I am concerned, has been really good and I think we have the opportunity to really make it and get promoted,” he said.

“We have got the right manager in place, we’ve got a fantastic team, we’ve got fantastic fans.

“So for the next three home games, for anyone who is under 18 it’s just £1 to get into the game.

“This will give people who haven’t had the opportunity the chance to get down to the ground and watch the style of football being played.

“It’s three fantastic games – we’ve got Accrington, Stevenage and Luton Town and this place should be full against Luton Town.”

Radford is convinced his side have a great chance of going up under Adam Murray this season.

He said: “I want to push. The manager wants it, the team wants it and I think the fans are the third cog in that. If we can get the youth in and behind us I think we have a chance of getting promoted.

“League One would be a fantastic league for us – lots of local games. The opportunity is there and we’ve got to grasp that now.

“The manager is committed to the town and to the club as am I and the fans, so let’s have a good New Year.”

Stags had over 3,300 of their own fans in the ground for yesterday’s 1-1 draw with York City.

The next home game is this Saturday against Accrington Stanley.

Mansfield Town clarified some of the finer points of the tickets offer last night.

It will not be available to away fans and is for youngsters aged seven to 17. All U7s will be admitted free anyway with a paying adult.
