Hearn back on Stags scoresheet as he continued comeback

Liam Hearn was back on a scoresheet for the first time since his serious knee injury in August when he completed a full first half for Mansfield Town reserves in this afternoon’s 3-1 defeat by Scunthorpe United in gale-force winds at Kirklington Road.

Hearn looked hungry, sharp and energetic as he continued his fight towards a first team return and might have had a hat-trick.

Things were going well when Hearn opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark, letting fly with a 25-yard free-kick which bounced up and beat the dive of the visiting keeper.

But two goals by Ryan Brobbel and a powerful set piece effort from Dave Syers in the second half saw the visitors fight back to take the points.
