MANSFIELD TOWN have revealed that leading goalscorer Matt Green has completed personal terms over a contract that will keep him at Field Mill until May 2013.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for news that Green would put pen to paper on a much talked about contract offer - and the news came on a busy Friday at Field Mill.
Following the signings of Gary Roberts and Ben Hutchinson, the Stags said that Green would be staying at the Mill to help the club’s promotion aspirations.
A fee had been agreed with Oxford United two months ago for the services of the former Cardiff City marksman and now the Stags’ leading talisman can look forward to the rest of the campaign after signing on the dotted line.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Field Mill career after bagging 15 goals since signing on loan from Oxford United in the summer.
Green told the Stags’ official website, www.mansfieldtown.net: “I’m happy here. The gaffer (Paul Cox) has been instrumental in my development and has shown belief in me. I’d like to thank all the staff at the club and the supporters for their support and for making me feel welcome.
“I’ll now look to push on to help give the club success in the forthcoming seasons. Meanwhile, midfielder Paul Bolland has joined Conference North outfit Harrogate Town on a month’s loan.
