Green begins return in Stags’ reserve game against Gateshead

MATT Green will get a run out with Mansfield Town’s reserves tonight as they take on Gateshead at the One Call Stadium (7pm).

Green has been out suspended for three games and needs the fitness ahead of Saturday’s return to first team action at Cambridge United.

“Matt will have a run out tonight though I don’t know how long for,” said boss Paul Cox.

“We have one or two who need to get 90 minutes and blow away the cobwebs.”

The side is also likely to feature some trialists as Cox seeks some cover for a squad that had just 17 fit players late last week.

There was better news on keeper Alan Marriott’s shoulder injury today.

Another examination has suggested he may not need an operation which would cut down his time sidelined to eight weeks.

Admission prices for tonight are £3 adults and £1 concessions, but those not attending will be able to listen to live full match commentary from Craig Priest on StagsPlayer from 6.55pm.

Stags youth team went down 8-1 at Lincoln City last night, Joe Flint the scorer.
