Former Mansfield Town player Scott Rogers named new boss of Heanor Town reserves

Former player Scott Rogers has been named as the new reserve team manager for Heanor Town.

He will work alongside assistant manager Chris Seal following the resignation of Dave Barber.

The former Mansfield Town player suffered a career ending leg break at The Town Ground in November 2014 in The FA Vase fixture against Coleshill Town FC and assisted Barber during his rehabilitation and recovery.

Seale had a long career in non-league football, a large part of that being a rock at the heart of the Heanor defence.

Rogers said: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to develop a talented crop of youngsters that will hopefully shape the first team in years to come. “This club has been fantastic with me since my injury and I want to pay it back by helping to bring through the next generation of players,

“I’m looking forward to my future in management and am delighted that Heanor have given a young manager a chance.”

Seale added: “I am delighted and excited that Scott and I have been given the opportunity to manage Heanor Town Reserves,

“I’d like to place on record thanks to outgoing manager Dave Barber for the talented young squad he’s helped assembled these past two years.

“I am really looking forward to working with Scott as his assistant and having both been involved with the development squad during the last couple of months we have the same ideas and goals moving forward.

“Personally it is a great honour for me to be a part of the management set up at Heanor Town having been a player here.

“Managing the U18’s last year I know there are some exciting young local players coming through and our aim is that some of them can progress to the first team in the years to come.”

First team manager Glen Clarence added: “First of all I’d like to thank Dave Barber and Ashley Pearson for leaving the reserves will a talented group of local youngsters.

“It’s Scott’s job, assisted by Chris, to pass their knowledge onto the lads and breed them to become first team players, Chris is an ex-Lion that I watched growing up, he was a great player and I’m sure that he will be vital for the kids development but also to aid Scott in his new role.

“Scott is one of the nicest lads I’ve met in football, he has a fantastic playing CV having been a pro at Mansfield, after suffering a near enough career ending leg break wearing the Lions shirt last season.

“I think his attitude and mental strength to want to start a new life in football is exemplary, as soon as his cast was off he was positive and wanting to help the club and myself, I think he deserves this chance, I think he will do a great job and I think he has a fantastic future in management!”

Heanor have announced that season ticket prices have been frozen for the coming season.

The prices were lowered a year ago to encourage an increase in support, due to that success the club want to show loyalty to the large number of supporters who invested in the team last year.

Adult tickets are £75 and concession tickets are £50. Call in to Heanor Town FC or contact Scott Ward on 07762969008 to purchase a ticket.

The club have also unveiled the new shirts for the 2015/16 season. The shirts are available for £22 adult sizes and £12 junior sizes.
