Former Mansfield Town midfielder Jon D’Laryea ready to complete ‘unfinished business’ after signing for Gainsborough Trinity

D’Laryea, 29, rejoined Trinity after severing ties with last season’s FA Trophy winners North Ferriby United.

The combative midfielder says he is looking forward to returning to the club and wants to repay Steve Housham’s faith in him.

He told the Standard: “The way my first spell ended here was disappointing because I was injured.

“I really enjoyed my time here and had a good relationship with the manager and the fans.

“When Housh got in touch with me, my mind was made up.

“I enjoyed it at North Ferriby but for a number of reasons I’d decided to move on.”

D’Laryea’s arrival meant that he became the third player to move from North Ferriby to the Northolme in the close season.

He believes that the arrival of Matt Wilson and Nathan Jarman will provide a huge boost to Trinity’s aims of climbing the league ladder next term.

He added: “The signing of Matt and Nathan shows real intention by Housh.

“They’re two really good signings.

“Nathan Jarman, on his day, is the best striker in the Conference North in my opinion.

“He can be unstoppable.

“Matt is very versatile and the two are massive signings for the club.

“But we all know we’ll have to work hard for a place.

“We can’t take anything for granted.”
