STRIKER Joe Flint bagged a brace as Mansfield Town’s youth team’s unbeaten run continued, courtesy of a comprehensive 5-1 win at home to Stalybridge Celtic last night.
Midfielder Jack Hawkins starred in a game which Stags controlled from start to finish.
Joe Flint scored the first of four headed goals, inside the opening two minutes when he headed home from a corner.
However, 10 minutes later Stalybridge scored from the penalty spot.
But Flint was on target again, this time on 21 minutes, when he headed past the visiting keeper from short range after a right-wing assist.
Clayton Brown then nodded it over the line five minutes later after Stalybridge failed to clear inside their own box.
In the second half, Hawkins showed good footwork by flying past the Stalybridge defence, before crossing for Adam Somes who was left with the simple task of heading in the fourth.
Hawkins was to get his reward on 82 minutes when Danny Barke’s pinpoint pass found the diminutive midfielder inside the area who found the net to complete the victory.
