Mansfield Town took a decent following of 326 all the way down to the south coast for Saturday’s painful 4-0 defeat at Portsmouth.
Stags were very much in the game, trailing to just a first half penalty, until two red cards for Kyle Howkins and Alex Iacovitti saw them shoot themselves in the foot and Pompey take advantage with three late goals.
The defeat proved to be the final game in charge for boss Adam Murray who left the club after a chat with chairman John Radford last night, having won just one of his last 11 League games.
That left Stags in the strange position of being both three points off the play-offs and three points off the drop zone.
