“I am delighted with three points. That’s what we set out to achieve and we got it.

“We were a little bit scruffy at times with our play and I don’t think it’s the best we’ve played.

“But we crafted two really good goals.

“There wasn’t a lot of really good football in the game, but both those goals came from really nice passing moves and were nicely finished.”

He added: “You get two goals up and it’s then about really practical with your play and we defended pretty well. 2-0 away from home is always a nice result to get.

“Christian Ribeiro was one of the stand-out players at the back and he played his position really well.

“It’s inevitable when you are 2-0 down at home you have to try to do something. I hare to say I think Mansfield are playing some good football, they didn’t do themselves short on that, but late in the game we put another defender on and it became defend the last 15-20 minutes I suppose, and we did it nicely.”
