Double boost for Mansfield Town in behind-closed-doors friendly

Mansfield Town were given a double boost in yesterday’s behind-closed-doors friendly with the Nike Adacemy at St George’s Park, Burton.

Striker Adi Yussuf, so in need of a boost, bagged a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory in which winger Matty Blair came through 45 minutes of action, his first since a serious knee injury at Carlisle in January.

Yussuf has had little first team action since joining from Oxford City in the summer, where he was a free-scoring star, and failed to put away a one-on-one at Luton last weekend just five minutes after coming on. So this hat-trick will have sharpened him up perfectly.

Blair was on the bench at Luton to give him a boost at the end of his first week of full contact training with the club at the end of his rehab.

Provided there are no ill effects from his 45 minutes today, he will hope to get onto the field during the Plymouth Argyle match on Saturday as a next step to a full return.
