Dons boss Neil Ardley upset by red card in Mansfield Town draw

Taylor was dismissed by Cleveland referee Ross Joyce in the fourth minute of stoppage time for an elbow to Stags defender Nicky Hunt in a game that also saw seven other yellow cards.

Ardley was happy with the point, as his side stayed unbeaten away from home, but said: “It has been spoiled by outside influences.

“Both managers are very frustrated and disappointed (by some of the bookings). “If you are going to book players for certain things you will be left with eight players on the pitch.

“Two players were tussling for the ball and he (Hunt) has been caught by a flaying arm. How the ref can see it I don’t know. We lost our way because of the man in the middle.”

On the game, Ardley added: “A point away from home is good. We played two up front, we didn’t come to park the bus or draw the game. We came to have a go

“It is disappointing when you take the lead not to go on and win, but we got done by a free kick. But other than that I didn’t feel uneasy and we weren’t opened up.

“After the equaliser it became a war of attrition, a bitty game with two teams scrapping. Our keeper didn’t have a save to make. The away team did more things right than the home team.

“We got in great positions, there was an intent there, but we couldn’t finish them off. We have got four forwards who we think will cause problems in this league.

“It’s a good point providing we can get something next week.”
