CATLING’S CORNER STAGS BLOG: That’s much more like it Mansfield!

This is a good move by Adam Murray to get the young lads game time and hopefully follow in the footsteps of Liam Marsden and Jack Thomas.

I also listened to Sports Talk on Friday on Radio Mansfield and heard Adam Chapman’s interview.

He talked about playing a new role this season and on Saturday he followed that with a thoroughly deserved man of the match performance.

Well played Chapman and it would have been brilliant if your goal had gone in.

On Saturday we thrashed Crawley 4-0 with them showing very little to go with them being unbeaten away up until them playing us. God knows how as they were terrible.

There was also a 100 per cent sending-off for them as well, even their manager admitted it after the game.

But I didn’t get their goalkeeper time wasting from the first minute until nearly the last. You could tell that he had definitely come for the point and his face when Nathan Thomas goal thundered his goal past his face into the net was a picture.

It was though a brilliant all-round performance from all the players and they deserve all of the credit.

This was much more like it - the biggest win since being back in the League and could have been even more.

I would have loved Chris Clements’ ‘Rabona’ shot to have gone in. He would have deserved it once again and hopefully would have got us a bit of credit on a sports news channel for a change instead of Premiership games.

I thought Nathan Thomas showed the best we’ve seen from him since being so good in pre-season.

I liked that he stayed on the touch line and gave the width a winger should give a team.

It made a change having a winger hugging the touch line, then going in with the ball.

As has been said in my previous blogs, fans have been frustrated with Stags not playing two strikers up top - and it proved on Saturday all our views were correct as we thrashed Crawley.

Craig Westcarr finally got to play up front with Green and linked up brilliantly, both getting on the scoresheet.

I hope this win will bring more fans in. If this is the way we are going to go at games than I urge all fans to come back.

There was a bit of fun near the end of the game as well as we put together over 20 passes, this was brilliant and got Stags fans singing ‘ole’.

I’ve not heard this for a long, long time at Field Mill.

My friend reckons it looks like Mitchell Rose is getting the Stags’ players boots from his brother Danny at Spurs with all the daft colours - do you all agree with him?

So with us now playing Loooootun next I hope we carry on this form and show the so-called big team what we are all about. Come on Adam Murray’s barmy army and COYS.
