Blair happy to be back in favour after full Stags debut against Wycombe

Loaned out to Cambridge, Blair had found himself out in the cold at Fleetwood before signing for the Stags less than two weeks ago and, after making a debut from the bench last weekend, made a full debut against the Chairboys.

“It was a great feeling to play again. I have got a couple of scratches and bruises and I am going home aching – but that’s what it’s all about. The adrenalin rush you get from the crowd – that’s what we do it for. I am delighted to get that feeling back.

“I thought I did everything right today. But once I am back fit and flying I hope the Mansfield fans will see the best of me.”
Stags dominated the game and twice hit the post yesterday and were unlucky not to win it on a soaking wet surface.

Blair said: “I thought the lads put in another good performance like last week and once we start putting the ball in the back of the net we will start moving up the league.

“That’s about nine we’ve had cleared off the line in two games. That says a lot about how many chances we are creating.

“I thought we started very strongly today, the defence did well and held their nerve and it was just up to us to put the ball in the net. If we just keep believing we will be all right.

“It was a boggy pitch, my legs are feeling it now, and conditions were not great for how both teams wanted to play football.

“But we created more chances and if any team deserved to win it it was us.

“Our league position is not an issue as once we start clicking we will start getting points and get up that table.

“Adam Murray explained what he wanted to do here.

“He said we were going to be a hard-working, physical team that can play as well and it’s great to be a part of it. I hope the lads can do it for him. He has given us the confidence we need to go out and perform.

“Last week was frustrating, but everyone today gave 100 per cent and the fans gave us 100 per cent back.

“They are not stupid. If they can see the lads giving 100 per cent, they will back you all the way.

“But it’s one step at a time and we know we are far from safe. We need to win the next match, take the confidence from that and take it from there.”
