Adam Murray the new Mansfield Town assistant manager to Paul Cox as Micky Moore leaves

LAST season’s Stags captain Adam Murray has been appointed as Paul Cox’s assistant manager, and will also remain as a player.

He replaces Micky Moore who has returned to his previous job as a college tutor.

The Stags’ manager confirmed the news earlier today and told the club’s website “We offered Mick another year, but he has a young family on the way and has returned to the college and will take up a part-time role with another football club from what I gather.”

Fans’ favourite Murray makes the step up to the coaching staff after an impressive season last term, when he captained the side in over 40 matches.

On his new player/assistant manager, Cox said: “I have a good working relationship with Adam. He is really excited about the role and can’t wait to get started.”

The manager also announced that he will look to recruit an additional first team coach, while Andy Todd and Ian Pearce will continue in their capacities as player-coach and physio, respectively.

A spokesman for the Stags said: “The club would like to place on record their thanks to Micky Moore for his efforts whilst with the club and wish him every success in the future.”
