Mansfield Town U18s to host Sheffield Wednesday after Chesterfield defeat
Mansfield Town under-18s will face Sheffield Wednesday in the Premier League U18 Professional Development League Cup this weekend.
The young Stags will host Wednesday at RH Academy on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm as they turn their attention to Cup action.

Professional development phase coach Charlie McParland says the side will improve, having had some tough results in the league during this early stage of the season.
Mansfield will face Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday, following their 2-1 defeat to Chesterfield in the Youth Alliance League North last weekend. Stags went 1-0 down before Riley McLachlan scored the equaliser but a late goal for the Spireites saw them claim all three points at RH Academy.
Stags U18 are still yet to get their first league win on the board, having lost 2-1 to Carlisle United and drawn 3-3 against Blackpool in their meetings prior.
“It’s been a little bit tricky. We’ve not been at our best for different reasons but it’s early on in the season and we will improve,” McParland told the club.
“We conceded a late goal at Chesterfield which was disappointing. But if we go back to the results – up at Carlisle it was a fair result and may have been a draw.
“The Chesterfield game on Saturday – we really dominated the game and could have won.”
“We want the team to work hard [against Sheffield Wednesday], run forward quickly, run back quickly, show courage on the ball and create a few more chances than we have been doing.”
Mansfield Town U18s will have all players available for team selection on Saturday, with a clean bill of health reported ahead of the clash. The match is free to attend at RH Academy for any supporters wanting their football fix ahead of the senior side in League One action on Sunday.
