Mansfield Town scholars sign new deals with club

Mansfield Town have introduced nine new first year scholars, who will compete in the Stags’ youth team season.

Following an induction the scholars penned their contracts at club’s RH Academy training ground earlier this week.

The nine players are Colt Reynolds (striker), Curtis Davies (midfielder), Diego Edwards (forward), Freddie Pitts (centre-back), Jack Deakin (striker), Jonty Bouch (midfielder), Lewis Hill-Smith (centre-back), Max Hurdis (winger) and Owen Mason (goalkeeper)Academy manager Richard Cooper said: "We are really excited about the upcoming season as it will be the first time that we will have all our teams operating out of the same training base (at RH Academy).

"This is a brilliant opportunity for both players and staff to fully collaborate together and develop all our players further.

"Our existing scholars will be joined by nine new recruits, which takes our squad total to 18

"A lot of the boys are familiar to the surroundings as we integrated a number of them in and around the team last season.

"During July, the players will be working through a fitness plan which we will continually observe via Zoom and other technology platforms.

"We are hopeful that the scholars will be back at the RH Academy by early August."Meanwhile, six scholars from last season have been released.

They are Jordan Armsden, Jamie Boyle, Isacc Fisher, Rio Molyneaux, Larell King, Nathan Saunders

Cooper added: "We wish all of our departing scholars well and thank them for all their efforts."Myself and the staff are still in contact with them and we will continue to help them with their planning for the future."
