Hide AdManager Nigel Clough had originally hoped that the striker, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, would be fit for Boxing Day's 3-2 victory at Scunthorpe United.
However, after assessing the former West Ham man, it appears he may be sidelined for a few games yet.
“Not sure," Clough said when asked about Maynard being available to line up against the Ammies.
"It’s unlikely, it’s probably going to be a couple of weeks. We’ll see how he’s getting on, but it’s unlikely.”

Hide AdClough was delighted to pick up three points on Boxing Day and the graft begins once more today.
“To come away from home, score three goals and get three points on Boxing Day, it makes your Boxing Day, your Christmas Day, and we go again on Tuesday," he said after victory at Scunthorpe.
“We’ll be off Sunday, training on Monday as usual, then ready for the game on Tuesday."
Tomorrow's clash kicks off at 7pm.
Salford are currently sixth in the league Two table, unbeaten in their last five league matches.
