MANAGER Paul Cox hailed his player’s magnificent display in making it four successive away league victories with today’s 2-1 win at Southport.
Mansfield are now only three points off the play-off spots with three games in hand and Cox said: “It was an excellent result and fully deserved.
“I thought the boys were excellent after the first 15 minutes when we started slowly again.
“After that we were totally in control for most of the game and with a bit more belief in the last third, we might have scored a few more goals.
“This is a really tough place to come. And there was a lot more anxiety today about what the weather conditions would be and would the game be on?
“Southport are also one of the form teams in the league at the minute.
“In the end one or two other results also went for us so it was a good day at the office.”
He added: “We are slowly looking like the team of last season, hard to beat but really effective going forward.
“I am not getting carried away. But this was a fantastic win today.
“We had two tough away games this week at Stockport and Southport and two points might have seemed decent. Instead we have taken the maximum six.”
