Town face Derby-based Woodlands Ladies this Sunday as they go in search for their first East Midlands Premier Division points.

"I think you've got to go into every game thinking that we can win that game, because we're more than capable of doing that on our day," Bell told The Chad.

"It's about a positive mindset and we'll go under no illusions they'll all be difficult games.

"They get a bit more local as well and rivalry comes in. We won't underestimate anyone and we'll be giving it our all.

"A positive start can put us in good stead."

Ashleigh Evans and Natasha Leach were on target on Sunday as Mansfield kicked off their league campaign - Bell's first as manager - with a 5-2 defeat at Rotherham United Women, one of the sides tipped for success this season.

On the same day Woodlands were beaten 4-2 at Loughborough Students.

Sunday's contest at the Pavilion (KO 2pm) will be followed by another away contest at Leicester City seven days later.

But despite beginning the season with three away matches, Bell has no complaints.

She continued: "It's got its pros and cons. It means you don't have to do them later in the season when, potentially, the weather's getting worse - so we're not too concerned.”
