"It'll be about how we recover," Clough told iFollow Stags, before adding the kind of dry, off-the-cuff comment his late father Brian was famous for during his days in the dugout.

"(There was) a lot of effort today and a lot of energy (used up) on a very, very warm day - and with us having two or three ginger lads that didn't help.

"Quinny (Stephen Quinn) really feels the sun and so does George Maris.

"I said to George 'how you feeling?' and he said 'I need some after sun'."

Clough set his side the target of four points from those two games against Stevenage and Scunthorpe.

And with three in the bag after Ryan Sweeney secured victory against Borough, a draw would see Mansfield reach that coveted 50-point mark.

"We set ourselves the target of four points from the two games and we've given ourselves a good chance now," added Clough.

Clough's first game as Stags manager was a 2-1 Football League Trophy win at Scunthorpe in November.
