Mansfield Town confirm new contracts for five 'very important' first team players
Mansfield Town have announced five senior players have signed new contracts to remain at the One Call Stadium beyond the summer.
Following the end of the 2025/26 League One season, Stags released their list of retained players, confirming the departure of Victor Adeboyejo, Dom Dwyer and Aaron Lewis. Loan stars George Abbott, Joe Gardner, Oliver Irow and Jon Russell were also on the outgoing list as they headed back to their respective parent clubs.

Mansfield Town revealed they had entered conversations with multiple key players from this season who they were looking to tie down to new deals. They then made their first tracks with the announcement of a new one-year deal for Tyler Roberts, who many fans were eager to see remain at the club for the upcoming season.
Now, Stags have confirmed another five senior players have followed suit following their historic end to the 2025/26 campaign.
Lucas Akins, Jordan Bowery, Elliott Hewitt, George Maris and Stephen McLaughlin have all penned new one-year contracts at the One Call Stadium. All five were due to become free agents next month but these contract renewals will see them remain in amber and blue until at least June 2027.
The quintet have amassed a combined 1,095 appearances for Stags in recent seasons as the club has gone from strength to strength. Mansfield Town finished the 2025/26 season in tenth place, marking their highest league finish since 1987 as they clocked a final points tally of 65.
“They have all been very important players for us over the past few years,” Nigel Clough said of Akins, Bowery, Hewitt, Maris and McLaughlin. “Of course three of them have been here the full time we’ve been here as well.
“It’s lovely to keep that continuity there and they are very important members of the squad, all of them.”
