Mansfield Town captain gets replacement trophy after fiancee accidentally knocks player of the year award out of the window

The Stags Supporters Association have given Mansfield Town captain Krystian Pearce a new Player of the Season trophy after the original was accidentally knocked out of his home window by the defender's fiancée.

The commanding centre half won the official supporters’ club player of the season award for the second consecutive year last term.

But after the trophy smashed during a tidy-up of the 28-year-old’s house, the Stags’ captain requested a replacement.

The skipper told www.mansfieldtown.net: “While I was away for pre-season in Portugal [in early July], my missus was having a spring clean and accidentally knocked it out of the window, so it got a bit smashed. She rang me and was upset about it.

“I’m really grateful to the SSA for sourcing a replacement as it’s valued to me,” he added.

Stags Supporters Association chairman Dean Foulkes said: “SSA are very proud of our captain and had no hesitation in ordering a replacement trophy once we were aware Krystian valued it so much.

“In an age where money makes so many headlines in football it was lovely to hear Krystian feels very proud to be SSA’s player of the year.

“Krystian explained to me he was disappointed that his original amber and blue glass trophy was broken, thanked SSA for sorting him a replacement and also said he wanted to win our award this season too which was great to hear.”
