Mansfield Town boss Nigel Clough has labelled Saturday's visit of Port Vale as Stags' most important game of the season.

After four wins in a row, topped by Sunday's memorable FA Cup win at Sheffield United, Stags are on a roll and hosting a Vale side bottom of the table but with new boss Jon Brady at the helm.

“On Saturday we face what I feel is our most important game of the season and it will be a different sort of challenge to Sunday,” said Clough.

“It will be incredibly tough.

“When you have four incredible wins on the bounce, especially Sunday's win, it is now important to keep it going.

“Saturday is an opportunity to do that, but Port Vale have had a couple of wins themselves now and will be a different proposition to what they were a few weeks ago.

“We would much rather have played them four weeks ago or whatever. When a new manager comes in all of a sudden things can turn around very quickly. They will be starting to think they have turned the corner a little bit.

“We have played against Jon's teams over the years at Northampton and know they will be right at it and right up for it. But we want to get the three points and get ever closer to that 50-point mark.”
